Cruise Ships


Cruise ships or cruise liners are not only meant for transportation across the seas but are used for providing a luxurious and pleasure-filled voyage across the seas. The ship’s amenities are also part of the experience and the passengers can enjoy the different destinations along the way too. In today’s date, cruising has become a major part of the tourism industry and it accounts for U.S.$29.4 billion revenue with over 19 million passengers carried worldwide. Modern cruise ships are enriched in facilities too and provide exquisite comfort to the travelers. The two largest cruise ships in today’s date are Royal Caribbean International’s “Oasis of The Seas” and it’s sister ship “Allure of The Seas”. Each of these two ships are five times the size of the Titanic and with a capacity of over 6,000 passengers. They have some of the best amenities too such as the first living park at sea with over 12,000 plants and 56 trees, five swimming pools, a zip-line, a casino, a mini-golf course, multiple night clubs, several bars and lounges, a karaoke club, comedy club, volleyball and basketball courts, theme parks and nurseries for children. The third largest cruise ship after these two is the Norwegian Epic of the Norwegian Cruise Line. It is again followed by Royal Caribbean International’s “Independence of the Seas” and her sister ships “Freedom of the Seas” and “Liberty of the Seas”. In fact, the Norwegian/American cruise line brand “Royal Carribean International” has seven out of the top ten largest cruise ships in the world as of now. It also controls 24% share of the world cruise market. Sister brands of the Royal Carribean International are Celebrity Cruises, Azamara Cruises, Pullmantur and CDF Croisières de France. In addition, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. also has a 50% stake in TUI Cruises. Another major cruise line operator is the British–American company “Carnival Corporation & plc” which has got ten individual cruise line brands as of now, operating a combined fleet of over 100 ships and controls 49.2% share of the total worldwide cruise market.
